QuickBooks Connect London 2023

QuickBooks Connect London 2023

gHawk Accounting attended QuickBooks Connect London to connect with strategic partners in the accounting industry and pick up on best practice for small business owners.

On 7th March 2023, Intuit QuickBooks hosted its first QuickBooks Connect conference in four years. It was an event bringing together hundreds of accountants and partners in the accounting profession.

We attended the conference to connect with fellow accountants and get some inspiration from industry leaders. It is always an opportunity to learn and pick up on best practices to help our clients thrive.

We got to her from Jolawn Victor, The Managing Director and Vice President of Intuit QuickBooks, Mylene Klass – Musician & presenter, and Tom Kerridge award-winning Chef – amongst others.

During the event, QuickBooks announced a raft of developments in their product to make it more integrated and more of a one-stop shop for accountants.

The 5 key developments announced were as follows:

  1. Practice management software - this will help with client onboarding keeping the records in a central position managing of tasks and connecting with other tools
  2. Books to tax - this is an integrated tax filing software within QuickBooks. it will allow for the filing of both possible tax returns and company accounts to HMRC and Companies House
  3. Payroll Bureau - this is a cloud-based payroll preparation software that allows accountants to prepare payroll for more than just one company. the current facility included in each QuickBooks online file, can only be used for that particular company. this has been seen by many of the people attending the event as a game changer because there are very few cloud-based payroll software. We hope this will be a good one.
  4. QuickBooks advanced - this is for bigger growing companies who may have outgrown the standard QuickBooks online. QuickBooks advanced offers up to 25 users, who can be assigned different roles. It also has additional approval workflows to facilitate the separation of duties between preparers and approvers. It also has advanced reporting capabilities.
  5. The ProAdvisor programme has also been improved to enable accountants to expand their QuickBooks skills and build their brand to attract and retain new clients.
  6. QuickBooks & Mailchimp - This was not an official announcement, but QuickBooks are also the owner of Mailchimp and it is expected that in the coming months, they will make it easier for business owners to run data-led campaigns based on artificial intelligence gleaned by the QuickBooks online suite of products.

Intuit QuickBooks also threw a great after-party with food, drink and music provided by local small businesses. So, what are the lessons for us as small businesses from attending QuickBooks Connect? I can think of five good ones.
